Moving goalposts (166-199)

Panic; less than 200 days to go till the end of the year. Time is really flying this year for some reason.

I’ve been quite well behaved this last week, completing all the surveys in my inbox each evening and reading and writing reviews for dooyoo. I finally reached the £10 mark on the latter, which is when you can redeem your money as a voucher (it’s only redeemable as cash at £50), and have been umming and ahhing about whether to call it a day on dooyoo i.e. cash in and not bother going back. It takes so much time to write a well-researched review that I’m not sure it’s worth the effort. Add to that the really time consuming part of reading a review of every person who’s rated me, and you’re looking at 1.5-3 hours per review. Rating others’ reviews is time-intensive but essential as when I read (and then rate) someone’s review, generally they will visit my account and read and rate one of my reviews, giving me an additional 1.5p (I’m averaging around 40 per review). This still only brings me to less than £1 per review I write though, so I’m really beginning to think that my time would be better spent on writing my book instead; but then there’s the valid point that dooyoo money is actual money, whereas writing my book is only potential money, and I’m supposed to be doing everything possible to earn extra money… so I can’t quite make up my mind.

For the time being, however, dooyoo has made the decision for me by recently moving the goalposts – suddenly you have to earn £20 before you can cash in. Ugh. So I’m stuck writing at least another 11 reviews. At least this gives me a target though; how quickly can I write 11 decent reviews and cash in – without being labelled a ‘chummer’ and scorned by the dooyoo community??
